You stay classy San Diego

I only know one thing about San Diego. One of the finest films ever made, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, was set in San Diego. In the film, the history of that great city is discussed.

Ron Burgundy: Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego -- which of course in German means... a whale's vagina.
Veronica Corningstone: No, there's no way that's correct.
Ron Burgundy: I'm sorry, I was trying to impress you -- I don't know what it means. I'll be honest, I don't think anyone knows what it means anymore. Scholars maintain that the translation was lost hundreds of years ago.
Veronica Corningstone: Doesn't it mean Saint Diego?
Ron Burgundy: No. No.
Veronica Corningstone: No, that's - that's what it means. Really.
Ron Burgundy: Well...agree to disagree.

Anyhow, I'll be away at a work offsite for a few days... a million thank-yous to Jenni for saving the day and offering to take my Laddie boy while I'm gone, so Jewel can go to the other dog sitter, and I don't have to worry about them having a smack-down while I'm gone. Laddie's stayed at Jenni's house before, so he'll be comfortable there, and although he won't admit it, he likes her dog, Lola. Also on the plus side, Laddie and Jewel have been getting along quite well for the last two days, so perhaps the aggression 'fits' Jewel was having were just settling-in stress, and now the worst is over.

I see on the Collie Rescue message board, that we've had something like 15 adoption applications come in recently, so my fingers are crossed that one of those people might be interested in adopting Jewel. She's nervous and shy, yes, but most of the time she's exceptionally mellow and grows more affectionate every day. Have I mentioned how lovely she is?

Ok, I'll be with the San Diego-ites?... San Diego-ons?... San Diegons -- 'til Thursday.
